selling
What are the seller's responsibilities in a private sale?
The seller remains responsible for property information, campaign decisions, buyer communication, negotiations and instructing a solicitor.
You are responsible for supplying accurate information, checking the listing, deciding the price and sale method, and telling FiSBO about important changes. You should not rely on a platform field or AI-generated suggestion to replace your own checks.
You decide how to handle enquiries, viewings and offers. Keep records, respond honestly and promptly, and avoid making commitments you do not intend to honour.
Your solicitor should advise on disclosure, the agreement and legal obligations. FiSBO provides tools and general process support but does not take over the seller's legal or commercial responsibilities.
